Dear Parents

I'd like to thank you for this opportunity to share the gift of music with your children.  My role as a teacher and music mentor is one, I take seriously and humbly.  It's a tremendous gift for me to be able to witness the evolution of these young people as musicians and human beings.   Thank you!

In order for me to be most effective, I need to know my student.  I don't teach music, I teach people.  The subject is music.  Please tell me about your child.  I need to know who they are; what they like, what type of learner they are, if they excel in one subject or another, what their hobbies or favorite video games are, if they have any special needs, cognitive, physical or social, etc.  All of this information is necessary for me to know how to communicate with them.

Another note on special needs

I am NOT a special needs teacher.  I do, however, have real-life experience teaching special needs students.  I'm familiar with many of the issues in dealing with children on the spectrum and ADHD.  I have some very effective techniques I've learned from my own research and from the parents of my students.   Changing my approach to accommodate people as individuals is what I do.  Let me know what I can do to improve your child's experience.
